Weslo Cadence R 5.2 Treadmill Review

So many times, we are forced to skip out on our trip to the gym simply because we cannot find the time to get in our car and drive to the gym. For this reason, we skip out on a healthy, well-built body. While we may never be able to eliminate our busy lifestyle, that doesn’t mean we won’t be able to workout. In this day and age, you don’t need a gym in order to exercise – not when there’s so many different pieces of workout equipment like the Proform Zt6 treadmill, the Bowflex treadclimber, the Proform Sport 7.6, and so many more.

Today, you can easily buy equipment for your home, regardless of how small it is. Many of the machines can fold up, so you could easily get a treadmill for your apartment. Speaking in treadmills, have you heard about the Weslo Cadence r 5.2 Treadmill? If you’re looking for a low-budget folding treadmill, then the Weslo Cadence r 5.2 Treadmill might just be a viable option.

Before you go out and purchase it, we believe it is only fair that you first learn about the treadmill in order to determine whether it will be suitable for you or not. Today, we are going to give you our review on the Weslo treadmill.

What is the Weslo Cadence R 5.2?

This is a low-budget treadmill, so you can buy it, without worrying about breaking your bank account – depending on where you purchase the machine, the price will range from $299 to $499. Looking at a lot of the other treadmills on the market and comparing them, in terms of price, we find that this is one of the cheapest treadmills available, making it the best treadmill for those on a small budget.

Unfortunately, with a price tag that is this low, we are usually forced with poor features. Is that how it is with the Weslo R 5.2? Let’s stop wasting time and find out if this is “good enough” to add to your at-home cardio training routine.

How Does the Treadmill Work?

When you first use this treadmill, the first thing you may notice would be how solid it feels as you’re walking on it. It has a nice, sturdy frame. The treadmill has Comfort Cell Cushioning, which is designed to absorb impact, so it places less stress on your joints during your workout. It also features a nice Workout Matrix Display, which is tinted blue – it’s a nice display that is easy to read in a poorly lit room. While you can develop your own workout. There’s pre-programmed wworkouts that you can take advantage of.

Track Ramp

In order to help walkers burn more calories, this treadmill comes equipped with a track ramp. You can adjust this track ramp to a 15% tilt. By adjusting the incline, your calorie burn will increase – it’s much more effective than walking on a flat surface at the same speed.

Six Training Programs

There’s a total of six training programs – each of them use different speeds and incline settings. By looking at the LCD screen, you will be able to view your progress. The feedback provided are time, speed, calories and distance.

What We Like about the Weslo Cadence r4

Easy to Assemble

In our opinion, easy assembly is a major bonus. Many machines can take up to three hours to put together and you will need someone to help you. Fortunately, with this Weslo treadmill, the assembly shouldn’t be hard at all. The treadmill has been designed for easy setup and should only take an hour. The manual does, however, advice that two people are needed, but looking through the reviews online, many reported that they were able to put the machine together themselves. Despite it all, if you need help assembling the product, you can pay for a set-up service.

The Compact Design

Like we said in the beginning, if you live in a small home or apartment, then you will need something that is compact. This right here is a compact machine and it weighs under 200 pounds. The design features of this treadmill makes it so that you can move the machine around wherever you need and can use it in small spaces, which is good news.

The Price

The price is definitely something we need to include on this list – when we first saw the price, we couldn’t believe it. The low price on this treadmill is one of the top selling points.

What We Don’t Like about the Weslo Cadence r4

Designed Only for Walking

If you’re a runner, this may not be the best treadmill for you. For a variety of reasons, Weslo Cadence treadmills are more so designed for walkers, not runners. Let’s look at the treadmill from a runner’s perspective for a second – there’s three major limitations. For starters, it has low horsepower, a short track and a low top speed.

Look at the specs – it has a 50” x 16” track, a top speed of 10 mph and a 2.25 HP motor.

The deck is another disadvantage. Compared to decks on treadmills that are built for runners, this deck is poorly cushioned.

Some have reported that when trying to run on the treadmill at 10 mph, the treadmill becomes unsteady, which is understandable and that’s why we are telling you it is designed for walkers, not runners.

Unfortunately, the warranty on most Weslo Cadence treadmills are short. The warranty on this particular treadmill will vary depending on where you purchase the product from. Typically, the parts and labor warranty is only going to run for 90 days. Most treadmills that are priced $500 and up have a tendency to offer warranties on labor for at least a year.

Small Track

There is a small track, which may make it hard to exercise if you are tall. The exercise area on this machine is 16” wide and 50” long. To give you an idea of the difference – standard treadmills for walkers usually have 20” x 55” tracks at the least. However, as we said in the beginning, this is more than enough if you simply plan on walking and jogging a little.

Manual Incline

The good news is that it does have an incline, but the bad news is that it is a manual incline – some people do not like the fact that they have to completely stop their workout in order to adjust the track. There’s two manual settings. Many prefer treadmills that have adjustable inclines so that they can easily add variety to their workout sessions.

Unfortunately, you may not be able to exercise on this treadmill without disturbing your house mates. Not only are the belts on the r5 small, but they can also be noisy as they are operating because of the material that they are made of. The higher the speed, the noisier the treadmill is going to be.

Doesn’t Have Any Extras

This one doesn’t have any extras, so you’re not going to have that “gym-like” feel that you would normally fine on higher priced treadmills like cooling fans, beverage holders or speakers.

If you’re a beginner and have never had a treadmill before, then the Weslo Cadence treadmill is a viable option. They are designed for walkers, not runners and there is no promise that they will endure through many workouts. There’s a low up-front cost, so if you’re on a small budget, the Weslo Cadence r5 would be a great option. If you’re not picky and you simply want to workout and enjoy a nice walk every day, then this would be a great treadmill.

The 50” belt may be a bit on the small side, but it is more than enough for the average walker – you may even be able to jog on this machine. If you enjoy mixing walking with a little bit of slow jogging, then look no further.
