A Quick Summary of the Proform Sport 6.0
Proform is owned by ICON Health and Fitness, which is a fitness retailer that is well known around the world – they are known for their reliable machines. The Proform Sport 6.0 is one of their cheapest (in terms of price) models as it can be purchased for around $599.
This is a nice bargain-priced model that is compact, light in weight and features a top of the line folding frame design. The drive system is equipped with a 2.5 CHP Mach Z Motor that has a 300 pound weight capacity.
The tread belt is fairly wide as it’s 20 inches wide and 60 inches long – it is designed with TreadSoft Cushioning, making for joint support and stability. This particular model has a nice incline that goes up to 10% and the speed controls can take you from 1 to 10 mph.
The console includes a good LCD display window that offers the basic workout readout stats.
What We Like about the Proform Sport 6.0
Looking at the Proform Sport 6.0 and combing through it under a microscope, we can find many aspect that we like about it. In this section of the review, we’re going to tell you exactly what features stands out from the crowd for us …
Okay, we’re going to be honest with you, the frame isn’t the best quality out there – if you want a good quality frame, look at the Max Trainer or the Weslo treadmill. However, despite it all, this model still has a steel frame. It is lightweight and compact, making it easy to maneuver, so all in all, the frame is actually one of the features we like about this particular treadmill.
The Folding Design
Looking online, we find that this treadmill has been dragged through the dirt because it doesn’t fold up enough – it goes to about 70 degrees. However, we actually like the folding design of this treadmill. It uses SpaceSaver Technology, like many of the other inexpensive models that are currently on the market.
Of course the price is something we’re going to list in this section! For being under $600, this is a good treadmill and since it comes from a well-known brand like ProForm, that’s even better. ProForm is the type of company that usually offers brands with a high price tag, so it’s really nice to have an expensive model that we can choose from.
The Open Trail Feel
When you’re working out, you should be comfortable and ProFom always seems to have comfort in mind. The Proform Sport 6.0 offers a roomy deck that won’t make you feel as if you are confined as you walk, run, and jog. With the 60-inch length, you will have plenty of room for your legs to get moving. The 20-inch width makes sure your upper body is comfortable with enough elbowroom.
The incline can go from 0-10%. With this digital incline, you can easily prepare your body to take on those uphill routes. The automatic incline adjustability is a feature that we find in many treadmills today and it’s something that we really like. When you’re training with incline, you will be giving your legs the best workout possible.
When you’re working out, have you ever wondered if you’re doing any good for your body? With the Watts LED display on this treadmill, you will be able to watch your power output. By the reading on the machine, you will be able to determine if you are in the Tempo, Endurance, or Peak zone.
This treadmill is iFit Read. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run in a specific country? All you have to do is push start, download a Google Maps route (or you could create your own). From here, the treadmill will automatically adjust the incline in order to recreate trails. With unlimited workouts that have been designed by certified personal trainers, you will be able to customize your training. iFit has a library that continues to grow – it offers programs for beginners to experts. For iFit, you will be required to pay a subscription, but the subscription is well worth it. You can access your iFit account from your tablet, computer or smartphone.
20 Workout Apps
The 20 workout apps help make the users experience simple and convenient. Once they step on the deck of this treadmill, they will have instant access to professional training programs that are fully loaded and ready to go. Now, individuals will be able to enjoy a challenging workout that is specifically focused on their goals.
Heart Rate Monitor
With this treadmill, you will be able to monitor your heart rate. There’s two hand-grip sensors that are placed on the handlebars. Within a couple of seconds, you will be able to see your heart rate as you train. This is a pretty interesting feature that most treadmills have – some treadmills actually have a heart rate monitor chest strap. Pro
As we previously stated, ProForm is the type of company that has comfort in mind. ProForm is fully focused on providing users with a comfortable workout, every time they exercise on their machines. Each treadmill they release comes equipped with just the right amount of cushioning throughout the deck area. As you walk, run, or jog, you will have a softer landing with each step you take. Less stress on your knees, feet, ankles and hips means you will be able to enjoy longer workout periods and faster recovery time. ProShox cushioning is one of the reasons many people turn to ProForm treadmills.
Integrated Tablet Holder
The integrated tablet holder can transform fitness time into multi-tasking time. The tablet holder will keep your tablet secure and close to you so that you can easily access all of your training tools, email and entertainment.
iPod Compatible Audio
Once you create your awesome workout playlist, all you have to do is plug in your MP3 player into the built-in sound system. The treadmill comes with 2-inch speakers built-into it, so you can easily turn up your tunes. Music has been proven to lower perceived exertion.
What We Don’t Like about the Proform Sport 6.0
The price for the Proform Sport 6.0 is amazing, and we feel like we’re being a bit picky here, but there’s a variety of things we just don’t like about this machine. We feel it is only fair that we are honest with you here …
While we like the display screen, at the same time, it’s something we don’t like because it’s not a full color touch screen display and it is small. However, with a price this low, something like this is expected.
Lacks a Cooling Fan
It lacks a cooling fan …this is a basic feature that you can find on even the cheapest of treadmills on the market, so we don’t understand exactly why there’s no cooling fan on this one. The treadmill is fairly spaces, so there’s more than enough room where ProForm could have included one, even if it was small.
The warranty is something we don’t exactly agree with. It offers 5 years coverage on the motor and frame, which is pretty good. However, for parts and labor, you only get 90 days coverage.
If you’re currently looking for a treadmill, we highly recommend one from ProForm, because they obviously care about their customers. They have many different models that you can choose from. Their treadmills aren’t too pricey, so if you have a little extra money that you don’t mind spending, you can go for one that will last longer than the ProForm sport 6.0. The Proform Sport 6.0 is really a treadmill for walkers, so if you solely plan on walking, it wouldn’t be that bad of an idea. It’s still a nice folding machine that offers comfort and the basic amenities you need during your workout.
