ProForm Power 995i Treadmill Review
Proform is a company that is well-established in the fitness and health industry. They offer a wide array of treadmills like the Proform Pro 9.9 and the Proform 2000, and all of them seem really good. Proform has a good reputation for being able to deliver budget friendly and highly professional exercise equipment. Along with elliptical machines, they also manufacture other pieces of fitness equipment including hybrid trainers, rowing machines and treadmills. While they offer many pieces of equipment, today, we are going to review the Proform 995i, which really stood out from the crowd for a variety of reasons.
The Proform 995i is often referred to as the Power 995i for obvious reasons. This is a great Proform treadmill for under $1,000. It has some very nice features with a solid build. One of the features that really stands out from the crowd would bet he nice 60 inch running surface with ProShox Cushioning. Combine this with a powerful 3.0 CHP motor along with a 15% incline option and you have a nice machine. Proform obviously put a lot of thought into designing this machine and there’s a lifetime warranty on the fame and a nice warranty on the motor in order to guarantee that you’ve got a good machine that is capable of withstanding the test of time.

What We Like about the Proform 995i
Looking at the Proform 995i, we must say, we personally like it more than the Nordictrack commercial 1750 (even though that’s also a good machine) and the Profom 5050 cst treadmill. In this section of the review, we are going to tell you everything we like about the machine (our favorite features).
When we think about our favorite features of the Proform treadmill, we immediately start to think about the wide multitude of workout programs that are available. To be exact, there are a total of 30 workout programs. Each one of the programs have been designed by a certified personal trainer and will automatically adjust the incline, speed and resistance of the machine. This treadmill is wired for iFit Live, which means you will be able to download additional workouts if you feel the need to. You can also get customized fitness advice. iFit also gives you the option to compete in treadmill races via Facebook, and so much more.
Having 30 programmed workout options already on the machine is twice as much as what many other models come with. If you research treadmills, you’ll see what we’re talking about – it’s hard to find a treadmill that offers that many workout options.
Another aspect that really caught our attention was the fact that this machine is easy to set up. Normally, with exercise equipment, it could take a couple of hours of work to set it up. This machine is so easy to set up that you may be able to put it all together by yourself. This means you will save money as you won’t have to pay a professional to do the work for you.
Heart Rate Monitor
With a heart rate monitor, you will be able to keep track of your heart. There’s pulse sensors that are built into the handlebars. By checking your heart rate while you exercise, it will help you run at the best pace.
This deck is capable of tilting up to 15%. With this nice power incline, this will help to relive pressure on your joints and will make exercise even more efficient. Inclines allow the user to burn calories quicker and develop great muscle tone.
The track is another feature that many users like about this Proform treadmill. It measures 60” L x 20 W. This belt is so big that almost anyone will be able to stretch out with a full stride as they run. As an added bonus, there’s ProShox cushioning, which will reduce the impact on your joints by 28% as you’re running – this is much better compared to running on concrete.
The motor is definitely something we don’t want to leave out of the picture. Responsible for running this beast, you have a 3.0 CHP motor. This motor is strong enough to handle light commercial use. With a motor like this, the entire family can get through daily exercise. At 12 mph, it runs smoothly, regardless of the type of workout you’re doing – whether you’re jogging, walking, interval training, speed training or doing endurance runs.
Save Some Space
The Proform Power 995i is the type of machine you get if you would like to save space – the nice SpaceSaver design is what makes many people want it. It has EasyLift technology, so users can fold the treadmill vertically to gain a couple feet of floor space. Simply with one push, the treadmill will be folder up.
Who doesn’t enjoy listening to music as they’re exercising? With the 2” speaker’s built-in to the machine, you won’t even have to wear headphones. If you have an ipod, you’ll be happy to hear that this machine has an iPod compatible audio port.
This machine has a maximum user weight of 350 pounds, which is pretty good as most machines have a maximum user weight of 300 pounds.
Integrated Tablet Holder
If you want to use your own apps, watch your favorite show or keep up with the world around you as you workout, you’ll be happy to hear that there’s an integrated tablet holder on the machine. With this holder, you don’t have to worry about your tablet falling because it keeps it secure.
With the 3.0 CHP Mach Z Commercial Plus Motor, you can take your speed all the way from 0-12 mph without putting any strain on the machine.
We feel the need to go over the warranty one more time. The warranty really is something we like about this machine. Individuals who buy this machine will get lifetime warranties on the motor and frame, a year of labor and three years on parts.
What We Don’t Like about the Proform 995i
The Proform 995i is an amazing machine, there is no denying this fact. However, even with the best products on the market, if you really comb through them, you can find at least one or two things that you don’t exactly agree with. In this section of the review, we’re going to be honest with you and tell you what we didn’t really like about the Proform 995i.
This treadmill is around $1,000, right? We’re not too picky, but with a treadmill at this price range, we would expect it to have a chest strap as a heart monitor. Not really a big deal as many may not like the chest straps, but we prefer them and unfortunately, it doesn’t have this option. It does monitor the heart, through dual hand grips, but if you’re familiar with heart rate training, you’d understand how difficult this is. When you’re running, it’s hard to hold on to the grips at different times in order to make sure you are reaching your target heart zone. Looking on the market, there are competitor models prices lower than this that offer the chest strap option.
We agree, most do not need to know their constant pulse or have a need for a chest strap, but if this is important to you, then you may want to look at some other models.
Workout Data Includes:
- Heart Rate
- ¼ Mile Track
Overall, for a price tag of around $1,000, the Proform 995i is a decent buy. It is backed by a nice warranty and has been built to last. There are a total of 30 programmed workout options on the machine, which is much more than what most machines offer. This Proform treadmill even offers the option to connect to iFit, which will allow the user to max out their exercise options. As we stated, the biggest drawback to this machine would be the fact that it doesn’t have a chest strap to monitor the heart rate. However, many don’t require a chest strap as they don’t care to notice their constant pulse while they’re exercising.
