NordicTrack C990 Treadmill Review

Having the right equipment for your exercise makes all the difference in how motivated you actually are to use said equipment. If you go out and choose the wrong equipment, not only are you wasting your money, but you’re putting a damper on your motivation because as we said, it will be hard to stay motivated. When you decide to buy an expensive exercise machine, it is important that you take some time to do some research. During this time, it's important to look at all the features offered, as well as the specs and design of the equipment.

This is why we have taken the time to go through and list the most important, and exciting, features of the NordicTrack C990 – so that you don't have to.  It gives you a good start in finding the best treadmill for you, and ensures you get the full details on what you're thinking of purchasing.

Why a Treadmill?

A treadmill makes it easy to get in the exercise needed – any exercising and movement helps to burn calories, and helps along plans to become fit. Besides, treadmills are super easy to workout out on! Simply get on and start walking, jogging, or running – yes, it really is as easy as this. Treadmills are very versatile in how intense they are too. You can decide if you want a high impact exercise on them, or if you're just looking for a casual stroll to get that step counter up and meet your goal.

You can also use them while doing other things – music, movies, reading a book. The amount of concentration required varies depending on how much effort you put into your work out. It's completely in your hands – it can be a casual stroll, or a full out run to really drive your heart beat high and get your blood pumping.

The Specs

The NordicTrack C990 is designed to be a quiet machine (this comes in handy if you have others living with you, so you won’t disturb them while you’re exercising), with a large casing for the motor hidden away inside it. This causes there to be much less vibration and make for a smoother walk or run. It also comes with dual cooling fans, which stop the machine from overheating. It also includes a 3.0 drive system.

On the machine is a 7 inch screen, which is web-enabled, and allows you to set your goals, watch your calorie burn, mileage or time, along with many other displays so you know exactly where you're up to in your workout. You can also use the screen to go online if you're looking for a more casual session.

The machine is possible of moving up to a 12% incline, which will really boost the calorie burning aspect, and can be increased incredibly easily in 15% increments. If you’ve ever walked on a treadmill at an incline, surely you would know just how useful this is.

The Nordictrack treadmill is designed to be a good space saver, and once you're done using it you can easily fold it up to save that precious floorspace, and bring it back out when you want to use it, making it perfect for home use.

The machine, like many cardio machines out there currently, understands the need for entertainment as you work and comes with a tablet holder attached above the touch screen. You can adjust this to the perfect hight to hold your tablet, allowing you to watch movies or read as you work out. It also has the capability to have a smartphone or iPod attached to it and will steam out your music through its 2 inch speakers, allowing you to be immersed in upbeat tracks of your choosing.

The Nordictrack treadmill is compatible with iFit, and you can log into your account through the touchscreen. This allows you tto use Google Maps to plan your walk route, and see the view with street view as you walk. The machine will also automatically adjust incline to match that of which you're virtually walking on to give you a more realistic experience.

It comes with 32 preloaded workouts, designed by personal trainers to give you a good head start and you can use these to decide what your outcome is – calorie burn, heart rate, speed and so on, which is a good place for beginners who are not sure how to maximise their time on the machine.

Working out can be a hot and sweaty affair, and it can quickly become uncomfortable. This is accounted for by the autobreeze fan. It will increase, or decrease, depending on the speed and intensity you're working at to try and keep you cool and ensure your work out is just that little more comfortable as you're getting more and more into it.

With the C990 treadmill, it comes with a lifetime guarantee on the frame and motor, meaning you don't have to worry about burning it out. It also has a three year parts warranty, and a 1year labour warranty, so you don't have to worry about things going wrong upon purchase.

While many of these features might seem similar to other models out there, like the Proform treadmill, - especially the Proform 995i or their Proform sport 6.0 treadmill, it's been designed with the comfort of the user in mind. Large belts to give ample space, quiet and smooth running, and special cushioning under the belts to give you a smooth run or to make it feel more like running on the outside terrain.

NordicTrack are no strangers to exercise machines with other models out there under their brand, such as the NordicTrack x11i, and the Nordictrack commercial 1750 – they definitely know what consumers want and have managed to put a good deal of it together in this one ingenious machine.

One thing to note is that there have been notes on assembly being difficult – if this seems like it could be a set back for you, they offer a professional installation on delivery that costs a little bit extra, but ensures your machine is set up correctly and ready to use without having to frustrate yourself with an instruction booklet.  Speaking in an instructions booklet, it does come with one, so you won’t be left there all alone …

For the price tag, with most sellers being around $1000, it's definitely something to get for the serious runner – or someone who is serious about upping their stamina, and isn't ready to face the gym or outside world just yet in their running gear, or even just those who enjoy the ability to stay moving while catching up with their favourite shows. It's not the kind of machine you buy to leave in a corner gathering dust.
